From my experience and based on the specifics of Topstep’s funding process, it’s not possible to add funds using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or USDT. Topstep only outlines traditional payment methods for deposits—such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal (the latter restricted to their older dashboard)—with no mention of supporting crypto-based deposits. This is not surprising given Topstep’s structure as a proprietary trading firm rather than a conventional, regulated broker. Their focus is on simulated account evaluations rather than direct custody or management of client trading funds as most brokers do. It’s also important to consider Topstep’s lack of regulatory oversight, which amplifies the risk associated with unconventional deposit methods like cryptocurrencies. In my trading career, I’ve found that unregulated firms generally avoid crypto funding options, likely due to compliance issues and anti-fraud measures. For me, sticking with officially sanctioned deposit methods adds a much-needed layer of transactional transparency and security, especially when dealing with firms operating outside recognized regulatory frameworks. Given all of this, I would exercise extra caution and only use officially listed deposit options with Topstep. If crypto funding is a priority, I recommend seeking out firms that not only support such transactions but also boast proper licensing and regulatory credibility.
