From my experience researching KOSEI SECURITIES, I found their offering focuses on a wide range of traditional financial instruments, rather than crypto assets. I can access domestic and U.S. stocks, which covers both individual shares and initial public offerings, as well as margin trading on these instruments. For bonds, they provide access to government, corporate, and even foreign currency-denominated and convertible bonds—this can be helpful for portfolio diversification. If I want to invest in funds, KOSEI SECURITIES offers various investment trusts, including equity and corporate bond funds, as well as some hedge-fund-style options. I also see they support ETFs and REITs, such as listed index funds and real estate investment trusts, offering further avenues for passive investing. As someone who occasionally trades derivatives, I'm able to access Nikkei 225 futures, TOPIX options, precious metal futures—including gold—and commodity index futures like CME crude oil. This breadth is fairly robust for anyone looking to hedge or seek exposure to Japanese or global markets through regulated channels. Insurance and iDeco (retirement account) options round out their products. However, in my research, I did not find any access to cryptocurrencies through KOSEI SECURITIES. While there is a mention of a retail forex license, their main focus appears to be traditional assets, and most of their ecosystem supports Japanese-speaking clients, which is important for non-Japanese speakers to consider before opening an account. For me, the broad range of equity, bond, ETF, and derivative products under solid regulation gives confidence, but the lack of crypto and language support can be limiting for some traders.
