From my experience as a trader who prioritizes safety and transparency, I carefully assess every broker, and ABX presents a very mixed picture for me. The primary advantage of ABX appears to be its specialized access to allocated physical precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum. Their unique MetalDesk platform connects major trading hubs, which can potentially offer reliable access to the physical metals market for active participants across the value chain. This kind of focus isn’t something I find at many retail brokers, and it could be a niche solution for institutions or experienced individuals with larger capital. However, the key disadvantages make me hesitant. ABX currently operates without valid regulatory oversight, despite some suggestions to the contrary. For me, this represents an unacceptable level of risk, as robust regulation is central to protecting client funds, ensuring operational integrity, and providing dispute resolution in the worst case. In addition, almost all instruments focus solely on precious metals, which significantly limits diversification compared to the broader asset offerings at mainstream, well-regulated brokers. Entry barriers also seem quite high—such as the minimum trading unit for silver being 25,000 ounces—which means this isn’t a platform accessible to most individual traders. Ultimately, even though I appreciate the global connectivity and specialist focus ABX offers, the unregulated status and high entry hurdles far outweigh those potential benefits from a risk management perspective in my own trading practice.
