As someone who closely reviews fee structures before choosing a broker, I always prioritize understanding any potential inactivity fees. With Travelex, there is indeed a monthly inactivity fee, which for me is a point that demands caution. This fee is AU$4.00 per month and it’s charged if I haven't made any transactions on my card in the previous 12 months. Importantly, this applies each month until either I use the card again, reload it, close the card, or my remaining balance drops below the inactivity fee. From a trader’s perspective, these kinds of fees can gradually erode funds, especially if I’m not actively using the account for a while. I find it critical to highlight that such fees could impact travelers or occasional users more than frequent traders. In my experience, confirming the specifics of inactivity fees and planning accordingly can help avoid unexpected costs. That’s why I make it a point to either keep some activity on the account or formally close it if I know I won’t be using it for a prolonged period. This measured approach helps preserve my capital and prevents any surprises down the line.
