IG Review: Withdrawal Complaints Hit a Globally Known Broker
Abstract:IG carries strong global licensing, but the warning is real: recent users allege blocked withdrawals, missing card payouts, and one severe 2025 case claiming account access was stopped before USD 271,373.4 was deducted. Our investigation also found revoked and unverified regulatory records plus official clone warnings tied to lookalike IG names and websites.

A trader in Taiwan said the problem appeared at the worst possible moment: after depositing three separate card payments of USD 300, trading for about two weeks, and making some profit, the withdrawal button kept showing that funds could not be withdrawn. IG customer service allegedly blamed the credit-card bank, but the user said the bank found no rejection record at all.
That is the sharp edge of this IG review. A major broker can carry respected licenses, a long operating history, and a high market profile. But when users say money cannot leave the account, retail traders must stop and look harder.
Our investigation reveals a split picture. IG is presented as a long-established Forex and CFD broker founded in 2001, with official websites listed as ig.com pages and trading support through proprietary software, MT5, and MT4 on mobile. Yet the same record shows 44 user complaints received by WikiFX in the past three months, multiple withdrawal-related allegations, and regulatory statuses that are not all clean.
IG Regulation Audit: The Mixed Reality Behind the Broker
The regulation picture is not simple. Several IG-related entities are marked as regulated by major authorities. But other records are marked revoked or unverified, which matters because retail traders often assume one brand name means one uniform safety level everywhere.
| Regulator | License Type | REAL STATUS |
|---|---|---|
| Australia ASIC | IG MARKETS LIMITED / No. 000220440 | Revoked |
| UK FCA | IG MARKETS LIMITED / No. 195355 | Regulated |
| New Zealand FMA | IG MARKETS LIMITED / No. 18923 | Revoked |
| Singapore MAS | IG ASIA PTE LTD / Number not published | Regulated |
| Japan FSA | IG Securities Co., Ltd. / Kanto Finance Bureau Director No. 255 | Regulated |
| US NFA | TASTYFX LLC / No. 0509630 | Unverified |
| South Africa FSCA | IG MARKETS SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED / No. 41393 | Revoked |
| UAE DFSA | IG Limited / No. F001780 | Regulated |
| UK FCA | IG Index Limited / No. 114059 | Regulated |
| Australia ASIC | IG AUSTRALIA PTY LTD / No. 515106 | Regulated |
| New Zealand FMA | IG AUSTRALIA PTY LTD / No. 684191 | Regulated |
| Germany BaFin | IG Europe GmbH / No. 10148759 | Regulated |
This table does not say IG has no regulation. It says traders must verify the exact entity, country, website, and license before depositing funds. That distinction can decide whether a trader is dealing with a regulated company, a different group entity, or an entity with a weaker status.
The risk is amplified by official warnings about clone activity. Spains CNMV warned in 2024 that finance-ig.com and www.finance-ig.com were clone sites unrelated to IG Europe GmbH and its official website www.ig.com. The UK FCA also warned about ICT Market 24 / ictmarket24.com and Wig Markets, described as clone firms misusing details of FCA-authorized IG Markets Limited.
These warnings do not make the official IG site the same as the clones. They do show how easily criminals can weaponize a famous broker name in the Forex market.
IG Broker Review: When Withdrawals Become the Breaking Point
The most serious complaint in the file comes from Malaysia in 2025. The user said they registered on August 29, deposited and traded normally at first, then on October 28 could no longer use any trading account or withdraw from any trading account. The user said the account still had USD 108,208.70 at that time.
The same user said customer service cited a compliance review and asked them to wait. After about a month, the user reported receiving an email on December 3 stating that their orders were considered trading errors and that funds had been deducted. The amount alleged: USD 271,373.4, leaving the account at negative USD 163,164.7.
That is not a minor service delay. If accurate, it is a devastating account event. The users stated demand was clear: return the deducted funds and allow withdrawal.

Other complaints show a pattern of withdrawal stress. A China-based user in 2025 wrote that withdrawals were delayed and that the account would be closed without releasing funds. An Indonesia-based user said they could not withdraw and reported Rp 42,000,000 lost, adding that many excuses were given when they tried to withdraw.
From Vietnam, multiple 2024 complaints described a repeated “VIP upgrade” barrier. Users said they could withdraw small amounts at first, but after profits grew or after a third withdrawal request, they were allegedly told to deposit more to upgrade VIP status, raise points, or unlock withdrawal rights. One user said total deposits were around USD 12,000 and the account balance later reached USD 35,000, but withdrawal was blocked unless they paid for VIP access.
IG Login and Account Access Complaints: The Hidden Pressure Point
Login is not only about entering a password. For traders, account access means the ability to trade, close exposure, and retrieve funds.
The 2025 Malaysia complaint is the key access warning. The user said they could no longer use any trading account and could not withdraw from any trading account. That alleged freeze came before the disputed deduction.
Separately, the platform review notes that the tested MT5 setup lacked safer login features such as two-step login and biometric authentication. That is not the same as a blocked-account complaint, but it is relevant for mobile-first users who depend on strong access controls.
When a Forex broker offers leverage up to 1:200 and supports Forex, precious metals, and CFDs, account access is not a convenience. It is a survival tool. If a trader cannot enter, trade, or withdraw during a dispute, the balance on screen may become just a number.
Visual Evidence From 2026 IG Review Files
Current-year complaints deserve special attention because they show live user sentiment, not old market noise.

The 2026 file is not one-sided. A Netherlands user praised IG as a “must use” broker and said PayPal withdrawals arrived within seconds. That positive review matters. It proves user experience can vary sharply.
But the Mexico and Taiwan complaints point to the same core fear: the withdrawal request leaves the users hands, and the money does not arrive where expected.
Key Red Flags Traders Should Not Ignore
- Revoked regulatory records appear under Australia ASIC, New Zealand FMA, and South Africa FSCA for specific IG-related entities.
- The US NFA record for TASTYFX LLC is marked unverified.
- WikiFX records note 44 user complaints in the past three months.
- Multiple users reported withdrawal blocks, missing payouts, VIP-payment demands, or account access restrictions.
Verdict: Is IG Broker Safe for Forex Traders?
IG has real strengths on paper: long history, broad market influence, official regulated entities, MT4/MT5 support, mobile apps, and no stated minimum deposit requirement. Several users also wrote positive reviews, including comments praising confidence, licensing, fast PayPal withdrawals, and product variety.
But this broker review cannot ignore the hard evidence from user complaints. The most serious allegations involve funds withheld, account access restrictions, and major deductions after a compliance review. That is the zone where retail traders get hurt.
The safest path is verification before funding. Use only official ig.com domains listed as legal, check the exact licensed entity for your region, avoid any lookalike site, and test withdrawal with small amounts before increasing exposure.
In Forex trading, reputation is not enough. Regulation must match the entity. Withdrawals must work. And if any broker asks for extra deposits to release your own money, treat it as a critical warning sign.
